Praha (or Prague as we know it ) - Pre-trip planning

OK, I must admit we got scared when we read about the pickpockets while doing our usual pre-trip search. I don't know if it really happens now-a-days or not - but thank god we didn't have to find out!!

It sad that the beauty of the city is tarnished by these reports as it is really a wonderful city.

This trip started up as a "city break" idea from lastminute.com (thanks!!) but finally when the time came I did direct bookings (that's me - typical!!). I think the driver behind this was that lastminute was giving me a "top secret hotel" and to be honest I don't like working with too many unknowns. So finally it came down to easyjet flights (with no hold luggage - a first for us!) and stay at the Courtyard by Marriott Flora for two nights. They also agreed to pick us up from the airport (at a cost of course).

A minor flutter of butterflies while I researched whether we needed a visa - but thankfully Czech Republic has now signed on to the Schengen treaty and we had our mult-entry Schengen from the last Paris trip - oh joy!!

Currency : Czech Koruna (though they kept calling it "crowns" or "kroners") - which was running (then) at a rate of 30.3 to a pound (nice!). We decided to take some cash with us but use our credit cards (of course the 0% commision ones) as well.
Language : Czech (no awards for guessing) - after our attempts at French (link?) we thought we'd rough it out rather than learn another language (a very intelligent decision in hindsight).
